  • About The Role

  • We are recruiting for an AMHP Lead & Emergency Duty Team Manager to manage our AMHP and Emergency Duty Team, within Health and Adult Social Care.

    Are you passionate about working with vulnerable adults and leading on Mental Health legislation focusing on driving service improvement, delivering an  excellent service whilst committed to achieving positive outcomes, we would love to hear from you.

    In this role, you will:

    • This roles requires you to be a warranted and qualified approved mental health professional (AMHP).

    • Ensure delivery of an effective Centralised AMHP and EMERGENCY DUTY SERVICE on behalf of the London Borough of Tower Hamlets which meets all relevant legal requirements.

    •  To manage and provide high-quality monthly supervision to the permanent AMHPs within the Centralised AMHP Service and Emergency Duty service and undertake an annual appraisal of the AMHP practice of the AMHPs rotated into the services.

    •  Provide professional leadership and advice to the AMHPS on all aspects of Mental Health law and practise.

    •  Ensure that AMHPs receive adequate training and support to enable them to carry out their functions, including their annual mandatory refresher training.

    • To manage the Emergency Duty Team for adults and ensure that regular, high-quality monthly supervision is provided to the staff.

    About You

    The successful candidate will be a qualified Social Worker and AMHP, and desirably a Best Interest Assessor who can demonstrate the following..
    • Thorough knowledge and understanding of the Mental Health Act and Code of Practise and other relevant legislation.

    • In-depth knowledge of the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Mental Health Act 1983 (amended 2007).

    • An understanding of the arrangements for managing patient care in secondary mental health services

    •  Thorough knowledge of the role and responsibilities of Approved Mental Health Professionals

    •  Understanding of the professional supervision and support needs of AMHPS and Out of Hours Workers.

    • To have experience of supervising and managing staff.

    •  Thorough knowledge of the of severe and enduring mental illness and its implications for service users and carers.

    • Strong communication and collaborative skills, with the ability to work effectively in a diverse community.
