Rated OUTSTANDING by OFSTED, Tower Hamlets is a great place to practise social work. We are committed to developing excellent social work practitioners and making Tower Hamlets an employer of choice.

Help us create positive change together, apply today.

    About Us

In Tower Hamlets, we believe the best place for children is to be raised within their own families, immediate or wider, wherever it is safe and appropriate to do so.

We are committed to building relationships and strengthening families by working with people in a compassionate and understanding way.

We are ambitious for Tower Hamlets children and families and strive for every child and young person to be healthy, safe and successful.

Our Better Together Practice Framework is underpinned by restorative practice. It also draws on other strength-based approaches, such as systemic and trauma-informed practice, and is fully embedded across Supporting Families.

We are an inclusive organisation that values diversity and empowers people from all cultures and backgrounds. We believe a diverse workforce brings unique perspectives and strengthens our ability to serve our community.

Our C-Change approach, Connect, Curious, Community, Co-Produce, Collaborate, and Check Back, sets out the 6 Cs for our work with children, young people, their parents and carers, and each other.

We particularly welcome applications from social workers from global majority backgrounds and from those with care experience in Tower Hamlets, this is a protected characteristic.

    About the Role

As an NQSW in Tower Hamlets, you will be part of one of our diverse Children’s Services teams known as Supporting Families, providing essential support to children, young people, their families, and carers. Our practice is child-centred, family-minded, and strengths-based.

We are particularly keen to hear from candidates with an interest in and/or knowledge of working with children with disabilities.

     Our Offer:

We offer a competitive starting salary at Grade I-K £45,852, rising to £47,925 once you successfully complete your first year of ASYE. You will also be eligible for an annual travel card covering Zones 2-3.

We are committed to developing excellent social work practitioners and, if you choose to work with us, you will benefit from:

    • A dedicated practice leader to support you through the learning and assessment in your first year.
    • A diverse workload and high-quality reflective supervision.
    • In your second year of practice, the option to continue with additional reflective supervision and the opportunity to complete a consolidation module accredited by our partner universities.
    • Over the following three years, the Learning Academy will work with you to identify the best ways to support and develop your practice.
    • Opportunities to undertake further study and complete post-qualifying modules through our partner universities after ASYE.

Tower Hamlets provides wide-ranging training and development opportunities, including university-accredited courses, e-learning, online and classroom-based training, and on-the-go learning. We also offer flexible learning through our subscription to Research in Practice and further opportunities through our membership of the North East London Teaching Partnership.
