This is an incredibly exciting time to join Tower Hamlets Youth Service. A key priority within the Tower Hamlets Council Strategic Plan is to transform and improve services for young people in the borough. In addition, Tower Hamlets has been chosen as one of eight early adopters for the governments new Young Futures Hub programme.
We are looking for a committed, skilled and energetic Senior Youth Worker to take a leading role in delivering high‑quality universal youth work as part of the new Young Futures Hub (YFH) a flagship, multi‑agency programme supporting young people aged 10–19 (up to 25 with SEND) across wellbeing, crime prevention and skills development.
This role is central to ensuring that young people across Tower Hamlets have access to safe, inclusive and vibrant youth spaces—places that support their social, emotional and educational development, and contribute to reducing violence, vulnerability and exploitation in the borough.
You will directly lead a team of Youth Support Workers and oversee the day‑to‑day delivery of universal youth work sessions within the hub.
You will ensure high standards of practice, high‑quality youth engagement, and a programme of activities that is asset‑based, needs‑led, co‑produced with young people, and aligned with the youth work curriculum.
You will plan and coordinate staffing rotas, ensuring sessions are appropriately staffed and compliant with minimum ratios. Working closely with the Young Futures Hub Manager and other senior colleagues, you will take a proactive role in safeguarding, health and safety, risk management and operational compliance across all settings.
A key element of the role is ensuring that vulnerable young people—including looked‑after children, care leavers, young carers, young people with SEND, those at risk of exploitation and those known to youth justice services—can access and benefit from the universal offer.
In this pivotal role the Young Futures Hub Senior Youth Worker will:
- Lead, supervise and develop a diverse team of youth workers.
- Build strong relationships with internal and external partners.
- Bring initiative, creativity and strong problem‑solving skills.

- A relevant degree or professional qualification in youth work, youth justice, probation or social work (SWE registered).
- Experience of working within and undertaking a lead role in delivering universal provision for young people. Experience of line managing staff and/or volunteers working across a range of a range of settings.
- Experience of establishing, developing and maintaining effective partnerships with internal and external stakeholders which contributes to effectively safeguarding and supporting young people.
- Understanding of the key principals of good youth work practice, with the ability to link theory to practice
- Strong understanding and application of safeguarding practices which effectively safeguard children, young people and vulnerable adults.
- Commitment to equality, inclusion and anti‑discriminatory practice.
